A life connecting with Water, Kyoto Aquarium
Kyoto Aquarium is a large inland aquarium located in Umekoji Park, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto. It is only a 15-minute walk from Kyoto Station.
The aquarium exhibits about 15,000 animals of about 250 species in 10 areas, including giant salamanders, fur seals, penguins, and seals that live in Kyoto’s rivers.
In addition to the powerful dolphin performances held daily, a new area called “Jellyfish Wonder” opened in the summer of 2020, exhibiting 5,000 jellyfish of about 20 species, the largest number in western Japan.
