NIFREL (Suita, Osaka)

New Encounters with Living Things

It is a space brought to life by “living creatures” and “art” that was born in 2015 at LaLaport EXPOCITY in Osaka Expo Park.
The name NIFREL is derived from the concept of “touching the senses,” and reproduces a new genre of “living museum” that does not stick to the categories of aquarium, zoo, or art museum. In addition to fish and other aquatic creatures, the facility also houses mammals such as white tigers, mini hippos, capybaras, and birds such as toco toucans and peach-bellied pelicans, and incorporates elements of art into its exhibits to allow visitors to experience the beauty and wonder of living things.
Experiences that stimulate the senses are difficult to put into words, even for adults. That is why moms and dads may be surprised at the stimulation they receive from children’s honesty. Here is an experience that is more than just seeing, enjoying, and being surprised.
