The Ohikage Tunnel Walkway is located in Tsumagoi Village, Agatsuma County, Gunma Prefecture. This walking trail is a former railroad tunnel. The Ohinikage Tunnel was once part of the Joshinetsu Railway, and was opened in 1925. It is no longer used as a railroad, and the tunnel is now used as a pedestrian promenade.
Beautiful limestone caves are spread out in the tunnel, and visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature’s formations in these caves. The illuminated limestone caves are particularly fantastic and impressive to visitors. The area around the promenade is surrounded by beautiful nature in each of the four seasons, and visitors can enjoy different scenery each season, such as cherry blossoms in spring, fresh greenery in summer, and autumn leaves in fall.
