The restaurant “Big Heart” in Lock Heart Castle (Takayama-village, Agatsuma-gun, Gunma-prefecture), with its English-style garden and architecture, has a very cute-looking and tasty menu using beets from Takayama-village.

“Big Heart” is located in the courtyard right in front of the castle. The restaurant is decorated with a British flag and has a glass-walled interior that is well lit during the daytime, giving it a very open and relaxing atmosphere. Dogs and other pets are not allowed in the restaurant, but you can have a meal with them in the eat-in space prepared in front of the restaurant.

The high ceilings, glass walls, and cobblestone flooring make it seem as if you are dining on a European terrace. The restaurant’s world view is detailed to the last detail, so you can enjoy your meal while eating. The Teddy Bear Museum on the second floor of “Big Heart” is a great place to visit while you are waiting for your meal or afterwards.

“Big Heart” offers a wide variety of lunch options for all ages, including a daily special lunch, marble bean curry, and a kids’ lunch plate for children.
This time, we would like to introduce a very cute looking and tasty pink menu using beets from Takayama Village, the hometown of Lock Heart Castle.

Lock Heart Castle is now selling products made from beets, a specialty of Takayama Village. Beets, also called “red radish,” are a much talked-about vegetable that has been called “eating blood transfusion,” super food, and miracle vegetable. Lock Heart Castle sells dishes, cakes, and souvenirs using beets.

The menu we had this time was “Cream Pasta with Alpine Specialty Beets and Seafood”, “Maria’s Cake”, and “Beet root Gelato”. As you can see, the colors are beautiful. All of them are made with beets, and all of them are very delicious.
The “Cream Pasta with Beet root and Seafood from Alpine Specialties” is very creamy and rich with seafood such as shellfish and shrimp in a cream sauce. The bright red beets on top of the pasta give it a sour taste that allows you to enjoy the rich pasta all the way through without getting tired of it.

The “Maria’s Cake” was not too sweet, and the cake itself was not too sweet, but it was so good that it made me want to eat more of it. So I bought a roll as a souvenir (you can buy it with a cooling agent at the souvenir shop).

The same beet-root-based menu is also available at a café called Patricia. Patricia’s also offers pasta, pizza, and other delicious meals, but since they have a beet menu, I had a scone with beet kneaded into it and a cup of tea. The scones are served with cream cheese, cream, and jam. The scones are not too sweet and go very well with the tea. The scones were a relaxing and delicious experience. The window offers a view of the greenery, and the delicious scones and tea make for the perfect relaxing time.
