An aquarium that recreates the beautiful sea of Kujuku Islands
Umi Kirara, located at Kujuku Islands Pearl Sea Resort in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, is an aquarium filled with the charms of the sea of Kujuku Islands. The aquarium’s themed tanks are easy to see, and the keeper’s handwritten explanatory panels draw you in to the fascination of the sea creatures. The popular dolphin show by Nami and Neha, the bottlenose dolphins, is close to the audience, and children are enthralled by the dolphins’ dynamic performance even as they are splashed by the water.
At the “Jellyfish Symphony Dome,” one of the largest jellyfish exhibit areas in Japan, mothers are entranced by the jellyfish floating in the air, illuminated by lights of various colors. The museum also offers a variety of hands-on programs that children love, including feeding and touching pools, as well as pearl beads and other unique experiences that are easy to participate in.
The museum is barrier-free with slopes and elevators, making it easy for babies to move around in strollers, and there are three nursing rooms. The observation lobby, where dolphin shows can be viewed from indoors, and the cushioned floor playground in the Children’s Plaza Amamoba are available for babies to enjoy their first visit to the aquarium at their own pace.
