A beautiful place similar to the cape in “Porco Rosso” is located here in the Taibusa Misaki Nature Park. Located in Minami-Boso National Park, the park is a collection of nature park facilities, including an athletic field, visitor center, nature house, hotel, campground, parking lot, grass parkland, walking trails, and observation deck.
It was used as a fortress for the defense of Japan from the time of the arrival of the “Black Ships” until the Pacific War 2. The ruins of the Cape Taibusa Battery still remain today. For this reason, the existence of Cape Taibusa was sometimes erased from maps in the early Showa period due to military policy and other reasons.
This 2-km-long cape juts out into the Uraga Channel. Located at the westernmost tip of Minami-Boso City, the area is rich in nature and offers a variety of activities such as sea bathing, forest bathing, and mountain climbing. The cape is a mountain, and the highest point is 95 m, including the 81 m mountain and observatory. It is also used as a walking trail, and the city road leading to the cape is steep, so you may need to be prepared for it.
There are sea cliffs at the tip and a cave with a legend. The scenery is also good, with views of Tateyama Bay, Tomiura Bay, the setting sun on a clear day to the west, and Mt. Fuji. Why not go and play with a little sense of adventure in many exciting spots?
