The delightfully named “Gao” Aquarium
The aquarium stands in an excellent location overlooking the Sea of Japan. The aquarium exhibits 10,000 exhibits of 400 species of domestic and foreign animals, including polar bears and the Akita Prefecture fish “grouper.
The first tank on display upon entering the aquarium is the “Oga Sea Tank,” which is 8 meters high and has a water volume of approximately 800 tons, making it the largest tank in the Oga Aquarium.
Visitors can see 2,000 fish of 40 species that inhabit the sea of Oga from spring to fall swimming in schools.
In addition, the “touch pool” is popular with children. Visitors can touch starfish, sea cucumbers, hermit crabs, and other sea creatures that live on the shore.
The museum also has a restaurant overlooking the Sea of Japan and a museum store with a wide variety of original goods.
This is a facility where fathers, mothers, and grandparents can enjoy themselves all day long.
