Funabashi Sambanze Museum of Environment (Funabashi, Chiba)

Funabashi Sambanze Museum of Environment is a facility where visitors can experience and learn about future global issues from various angles through the resources and environment of the Sanbansz seaside area in Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture. The museum is equipped with many game-like learning contents, so children can enjoy learning about the environment and have fun.

Funabashi Sambanze Museum of Environment consists of three zones: “Know,” “Think,” and “Learn.” Visitors can learn about the creatures that live in the mudflats and their ecosystem, as well as about the city’s natural environment and global environmental issues such as the mechanism of blue tides, which are a problem in Tokyo Bay.

In addition, there are a variety of events and workshops, such as fieldwork to look for crabs and wild birds in the mudflats. A large tower can be seen as soon as you enter the learning center. You can play with a huge model of living creatures and a digital illustrated book…Also, unusually for a learning facility, Funabashi Sambanze Museum of Environment is equipped with a kitchen studio. It is a facility similar to a home economics lab, where you can cook and taste the food produced in Funabashi and the bounty of the Sanbanze Sea. Visitors can enjoy learning about living creatures from the perspective of food.

On that day, the “Poisons Around Us” exhibition was being held as a special exhibition. The exhibition featured poisons of familiar organisms, and I was surprised to learn that even such plants are poisonous⁉.

On a warm day, you can play in the water at the seaside park and visit the very popular Funabashi Sambanze Museum of Environment where you can learn and exercise.
