
Kanazawa Zoological Gardens is located in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, in the lush Kanazawa Nature Park surrounded by forests such as Mount Enkai, which is connected by a hiking course, and houses mainly rare herbivorous animals from around the world. The zoo exhibits animals divided into four continents by habitat: America, Eurasia, Oceania, and Africa.

There is also a “Honobono Hiroba” with goats, sheep, and other domestic animals, a rest house, and a rest area, where visitors can enjoy walking throughout the day while admiring the animals and nature. The hillsides offer a great view from the Shinoinokiyama Observatory, from which you can see the Sea Park, Hakkei-jima Island, Tokyo Bay, Kannonzaki, and the Boso Peninsula in the distance.

Kanazawa Nature Park, where Kanazawa Zoo is located, is a vast site surrounded by one of the largest natural areas in Yokohama City, including Kanazawa Shimin-no-Mori Forest, Nature Observation Forest and Hitorizawa Shimin-no-Mori Forest. Weather permitting, visitors can even see the Boso Peninsula beyond Tokyo Bay. In addition to the animal area, Kanazawa Nature Park has a botanical area, the “Nonohana-Kan” with an exhibition area of plants and animals, nature trails, lots of playground equipment, one of the largest roller slides in the city, and a barbecue area, making it a perfect park for families who can forget about time and have fun all day long.
