The thrill of meeting books never stops! Spend a relaxing time in a stay-and-go evolutionary bookshop.

I heard that there is a place in Roppongi, Tokyo, where books carefully selected by professionals are lined up like a library, and you can read them while relaxing, just like in a café. It is truly a bookshop that has evolved into a stay-and-go type of bookshop! A wonderful place that gives you a sense of excitement and thrill.

The place is called Bunkitsu, and if you ask whether it is closer to a library or a bookshop, it is a true evolutionary ministry that combines the best of both.

Bunkitsu is located in Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo, about a minute’s walk from Roppongi Station, along the busy Roppongi street. In a word, Bunkitsu is a bookshop with an admission fee. However, the books on display are carefully selected by professionals in the field for each genre, so there is no guarantee that new books will always be available, as in a bookshop.

When you enter the shop, the first thing you see is a free space where exhibitions and other events are held.

There are free areas and chargeable areas in the shop, and the aforementioned free space is a free area. In the free area, there are a wide variety of magazines and goods for sale.

Pay the fee at reception and get a badge before entering the paid area.

The pay area is lined with bookshelves and has a reading room and a tearoom.

There is a wide range of book genres, from management and philosophy to music and art, as well as a section on comics, so even people who don’t normally read books can enjoy themselves.

And because this is a bookshop, it is of course possible to buy any books you like!

Another attraction of the Bunkitsu is that you can eat and drink tea as if it were a coffee shop, along with meeting new books.

In the coffee room in the pay area, you can bring in your own books and spend time at a table or on a sofa while drinking a cup of coffee. There are also sofa seats where you can stretch out your legs, so you can relax and enjoy reading as if you were at home.

In addition to a food menu including rice with hashed meat and beef curry, the tearoom also offers a wide range of desserts. Among these, we would like to recommend the Melted Custard Pudding. The hard texture and elegant sweetness make it a perfect accompaniment to a cup of bitter coffee.

The Bunkitsu was a great place for book lovers and even non-book lovers to have fun. The books selected for the wide range of book genres are all fascinating and once you get interested in a title, you can’t help but read it. The time you spend looking for books with the excitement and anticipation of what kind of books you will come across is indescribably enjoyable. Families and couples as well as single people can enjoy the ministry, so please give it a try.
