Located about 30 minutes by car from Yufuin Onsen, one of the most popular onsen (hot spring) resorts in Kyusyu, Japan, Kijima Kogen Park offers more attractions than you can play in a day, including Japan’s first wooden coaster and virtual travel contents. After playing at Kijima Kogen Park for so long, you will probably get hungry…

There are five restaurants in Kijima Kogen Park, so you won’t have trouble finding something to eat, from fast food such as hamburgers and pizza to family restaurants.

This time, we will introduce you to Mary Arden’s House, a family restaurant where you can enjoy excellent gourmet food such as Toriten (chicken tempura) and other local Oita dishes.

From the Hello Gate (main entrance), with your back to the gate, walk in the direction of the Ferris wheel, past the large indoor athletic facility “Mission 7 K-Stadium” and the “Horror Maze Magic Labyrinth” to find the family restaurant “Mary Arden’s House”.

The recommended dish at Mary Arden’s House is Oita’s famous Toriten set meal. The restaurant also offers a wide variety of Western and Japanese dishes, noodles, snacks, and a children’s menu, making it a great place for those with children who want a set meal but also want udon noodles.

The decor and color scheme of the restaurant also incorporate country elements, creating a lovely interior. The restaurant is very spacious, allowing you to relax and unwind.

One of the most popular menu items at Mary Arden’s House is Toriten. A specialty of Oita Prefecture, Toriten has Kijima’s original crispy batter and the meat is well-seasoned, making it a dish that makes your rice go down a treat.

After dinner, please try the whipped pancakes and enjoy them with melted vanilla ice cream. The pancakes are thick and very satisfying. Try them as an after-dinner dessert or snack.
